January News Update
I've begun working on volume 4. I'm more motivated than ever to create and produce great works. Many of you know, I
hadn't planned to be writing/recording songs for
kids/families. It truly is an unexpected
joy and privilege to be contributing to the
happiness
and well-being of so many youngest of the young and
their parents.
I'm often asked something along these lines..."How
are
you writing such amazing songs for children when you
yourself don't have any kids?" The answer is
multi-fold...I've been working my craft as a
songwriter/musician for many years, my style has
always been catchy,
sweet, retro and light pop/rock and didn't fit in
with
the angst ridden
teen/adult market. I've learned that whether a
person is 4, 14, 24, 34 or 44, the human brain is
pretty much the same. Everyone wants to be happy,
safe, fulfilled, important, loved, respected,
etc...and everyone experiences frustration, sadness,
lack, you get the point. Also, I remember what it's
like to be a kid and I've babysat for a friend which
gave
me some song ideas. I often ask parents
"What
would you most want your kids to hear in a
song?...More especially so that you wouldn't have to
get mad/upset at them, a song that you could play
over
and over in the car or wherever that could dissolve
the problem, even before it began....About three
years
ago I began praying and meditating regularly in this
manner "Use me, What's the best we can do with me?"
"How can I help?" "What's the greatest, most helpful
demonstration I can make in the world?" About that
time, a friend overheard a producer/director wishing
he could find the right composer to write the songs
for a musical for children/families he intended to
produce. This friend said "excuse me, I think I know
just the guy..." 3 and a half years later the first
U.S. tour of "A Kids Life" www.akidslife.com (Music and lyrics by Corey Leland)
began on December 27th. 1500, 1800 seat theaters,
many
of which also house such Nationally branded shows as
"Sesame Street" and "Dora the Explorer".
After completing an amazing batch of 13 songs upon which the
musical would be/is built, I began my new series THE
INSECTS ROCK! With songs such as "Why would I wanna
wear diapers" and "Mommy won't get you everything"
and
"You're gonna do great things" I began formulating
characters and a concept for a helpful new t.v. show that
both
pre-school children and their parents could enjoy
together. A new business team is forming around me
and I am very excited about the future. Visit me on myspace,

updates.
Wishing you a happy and peaceful 2007. :D
Love and Light, Corey Leland
